Manchester Childrens Book Festival

Tickets are now on sale for the first Manchester Children's Book Festival. Launched from the Manchester Writing School at Manchester Metropolitan University, and directed by Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy, the Festival runs from 1st-4th July 2010.
Events and activities include:

- launch event with Carol Ann Duffy and Gillian Clarke, the National Poet for Wales
- fundraising Gala Dinner at the Midland Hotel in Manchester with Carol Ann Duffy, Jeanette Winterson and celebrity guests
- musical performances of 'The Princess' Blankets'
- Family Fun Day with free activities including interactive workshops, exhibitions, art installations and performances, story-telling tents and a picnic in the park - come along and meet some of your favourite authors and characters
- ticketed events with children's writers including John Agard, Cathy Cassidy, Andrew Cope, Adele Geras, Mary Hoffman, Liz Kessler, Grace Nichols, Michael Rosen and Jenny Valentine
- Doctor Who event with readings from Daniel Blythe, Steve cole and Paul Magrs - and a chance to meet characters from the series and take part in the Hyde Fundraisers' Doctor Who green screen experience
- city centre reading at St Ann's church with Jackie Kay and a children's choir
- afternoon tea and a literary quiz with Sherry Ashworth and Frank Cottrell Boyce
- continuing professional development events for writers, teachers and arts practitioners
